   Excellent small coffee maker: easy to use and clean

   This is an excellent small coffee maker that is easy to use and easy to clean. In one picture, note how small this coffee maker (on the right) is compared to another fairly small (“10 cup”) coffee maker (on the left). The back edge of both coffee makers are even with each other; i.e., the front-to-back dimension of this (Amazon Basics) coffee maker is small: only 8 inches. The width is 7-1/2 inches, not counting room for the carafe handle. Height is 10-1/2 inches. A total of 17-1/2 inches clearance, measured from the countertop, is needed to open the lid; that’s almost the front-to-back dimension plus the height with the lid closed, because the lid is the entire top surface of the coffee maker. The other picture shows the re-usable plastic filter, the filter basket, and the carafe, all of which are easy to remove and clean. The filter and filter basket geometry prevent small coffee granules from getting into the carafe. Reviews for other coffee makers warned about the water-fill reservoir being on the left, and therefore awkward for a right-handed person. This coffee maker can be filled from either side, because the opening for the reservoir is across the entire back, when the lid is open. Therefore, this is fine for me as a right-handed person and should be equally fine for a left-handed person. Time to brew takes about six to seven minutes. The feature that allows you to take a cup during brewing works. When doing so, the lid may pop up, but then it’s just a matter of pressing the lid down again. I read a one-star review where the user states, “Now … the coffee never flows into the pot.” If this happens to you, try firmly pressing down the lid again to snap the lid into place. Note on “cups”: like all coffee makers in my experience, “cup” is the traditional size of a “cup of coffee,” which is about 5 ounces. This is different from an “eight-ounce cup.” Therefore, 24 ounces, which you might think of as three cups (or as two cups of coffee if you have a large coffee mug) almost fills this coffee maker, and is 5 “cups” in all coffee makers in my experience. Therefore, this “5-cup” coffee maker is the perfect size for me for “two large cups” of coffee in the morning. As a one-star review states, “When your pour water into the machine at the level of 4, the amount you get when the coffee that pours out is at the lowest mark of a 2”; i.e., about 4×5 ounces poured in will produce about two 8- or 9- ounce cups of coffee. I read a one-star review that states, “the coffee grinds get thru.” The plastic filter is much thinner than my previous coffee maker’s gold-plated filter. Be gentle with the filter and just rinse it. I read a one-star review that states, “It’s impossible to obtain the strength of coffee that I want.” Don’t overfill the filter. For strong coffee, try grinding the coffee beans finer, or if you buy ground coffee, ask to have the beans ground finer. I grind my own coffee beans, but I’ve noticed that Starbucks always ask customers who request grinding how fine to grind. I read a one-star review where cold water was poured into the coffee maker while the coffee maker was hot. Don’t do this. This damaged my previous coffee maker and will likely destroy this one. If you want more than 5 cups of coffee, then I recommend pouring more water in during brewing, or waiting for the coffee maker to cool, or perhaps pouring in hot water. I have used this coffee maker for only a couple of days, so I can’t comment on its reliability.

   Alexa, turn on the coffee

   The Coffeemaker itself: This is a simple coffeemaker with a physical on and off switch. It brews nicely and comes with a reusable filter. I prefer to use it with a paper filer as well because I find the reusable filter alone leaves the coffee a bit cloudy…which is true of any reusable metal filter. It brews the perfect amount for me as the only coffee drinker in the house. I get one mug before I leave for work and then have enough to fill up my travel coffee cup.Turning it into a “Smart Coffee Maker”: Since it has a physical on and off switch, you can leave it on and use a smart plug to control when it is off and on. I purchased this pack of smart plugs when they were on sale, and one of these works perfectly with this coffee machine.

   Using the app that controls the smart plug, I have it setup to work with Alexa as well. This means that I can simply say, “Alexa, turn the coffee on” and it will start brewing. Of course, in order for this to work, I need to set it up the night before by adding the coffee and water to the machine. I can also turn it off with my phone or with Alexa. I can even see from work if I accidentally left it on with my phone and turn it off I need to. The simplicity of this machine and the physical switch make it possible to elevate it into a smart machine with the right setup.I prefer this method over buying a more expensive coffee maker with a timer because:1. I am starting to use Alexa for everything2. It accommodates various waking times (I simply hit the button or tell Alexa to turn on the coffee when I am upstairs getting dressed whether it be at 5:30 am or 8:30 am depending on the day)3. You don’t have to program timer or constantly set a clock on the machine4. Once it’s set up, it is super easy to useI recommend this coffeemaker and this setup for anyone who wants to have coffee ready in the morning, or someone like me who doesn’t need the normal 12 cups of coffee.

   Perfect for solo drinkers

   This coffee maker is cheap, fast, and easy. It’s the ideal coffee maker for someone who drinks two cups in the morning or for a couple that drinks one cup each. Do not be mislead by the 5 cup capacity- you will not be able to entertain guests with this coffee maker. With that being said, it has otherwise met all of my expectations. The included reusable filter is a nice addition, and the warmer keeps the coffee at the perfect temperature all morning.I took off one star for two reasons: recently, something electric blew when I turned it on in the morning, and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve been using it daily for over six months, so I’m not too upset about it. I think for the amount I paid for it, six months is a decent window of use before buying another. The other reason is that there is no timer, so the heating element will stay on forever if you don’t switch it off before leaving the house. You can’t expect high tech from a $20 coffee maker, but it seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

   Avoid the 3-5$ coffee house expense and do it yourself for less! For just over 15$, free to your door shipping, a permanent metal filter (awesome), and a 1 year warranty this is a solid buy for those, like myself, who do not need a massive 14 cup carafe or any of the other fancy bells & whistles of the more expensive models. I compared & chose this one over similarly sized/priced models from Mr. Coffee and Black+Decker.It is basic, with a small footprint (great for small apartments or college dorm rooms), and simple to use. Perfect. I like the minimal black on black branding. 25 oz. size is great for one person. It is mini, personal size if you will. Now if you have a larger household that all drink coffee this is going to be too small. Rated power: 650W. Weight: 2.7 lbs. Comes packed in their ‘frustration free’ plain box packaging which is recyclable & a small printed owners manual (English/Spanish/French). Thank you amzn for the fast shipping!Tip: Use good quality water such as filtered or bottled for better results. Tap, tho ‘free’, isn’t as clean as it could be.Note on size discrepancies: A cup in the U.S. is 8 oz., however for coffee makers it is typically just 5 oz. Most pre-ground coffee use a 6 oz. cup measurement. Meanwhile your average coffee cup is 10-11 oz.

   Excellent Coffee Brewer

   I am going to enjoy this coffee brewer so much because it makes excellent coffee with 26 oz of water and 1/2 heaping cup of ground coffee. I fill the water tank and coffee filter basket at night, then turn on whenever I wake up in the AM. Better than having a programmed arrangement wake me up.The removable filter seems small, but it can handle the big 1/2 cup of grounds.The coffee tastes rich and smooth. I use 1/4 cup dark roast Community Coffee and 1/4 cup Lucy Joe Sumatra plus 1 tsp cocoa in the bottom of mug. The cocoa adds to the smoothness.The water tank markings face front so the pot doesn’t have to be moved sideways to fill.The stay hot feature works, isn’t important for me because I reheat my two mugs of coffee in the microwave several times before finishing.Cleaning directions are nice and clear.I just returned another brand of coffee maker with a thermal pot. The thermal carafe keeps you from seeing the rich brew and how much is left. In a glass carafe there is this extra pleasure.The lid snaps down to hold the removable filter and basket in just the right position.

   BASIC & SMALL coffee maker that works

   This was a rushed purchase for me as my Mr. Coffee maker stopped working after a year. And to avoid going into convulsions I ordered this coffee maker without paying too much attention to the details, although I read some reviews which are generally positive. I have only had it for three days but have used it several times and four things of note 1) this baby is SMALL… my fault for not paying attention to the details but did not realize it would look like a miniature doll house addition (previous coffee maker was 10 cups so keep that in mind) 2) you need to make sure you align coffee holder/filter so it fits properly before brewing to avoid what happened to us which is brewed coffee all over the counter and floor – there is not a noticeable difference in placement so you might think it is aligned when it is not 3) includes a filter so no need to buy paper filters but it does not securely attach so don’t take out entire holder and shake in trash can because filter will also go into trash can and 4) it works – yup, the sucker actually brews coffee no different than my $60 piece of junk that broke in a year. I do not have high hopes that this will last the year but at $14.99 I can live with that.CONS: see above but main thing for me is size as it is small. I only drink cold coffee so I am used to a larger coffee maker, at least 10 cups… which I store in the refrigerator. I also have a Keurig which brews one cup at a time and like the keurig I have to brew several times with this baby. But again $14.99! Was going to return but that price keeps flashing before my eyes so will keep it.

   Best coffeemaker, easy to use and clean

   I love this coffeemaker. It is really easy to use. It comes with a washable, reusable filter. This saves me from having to use paper filters, which saves me time and money. The handle is easy to grip on the glass cup and on the container that holds the filter. When I clean the filter container, I can easily grip it because it has a place for your thumb to hold on while washing. Also, the removable filter is solid plastic at the bottom so nothing drips out when you pull it out of the machine to wash it. The coffeemaker is easy to clean and take care of. There is one simple button to make the coffee which switches on and off, and lights up when in use. This is the best coffeemaker I’ve used and it’s affordable for my needs. It’s also small enough to fit into a tight space when you don’t have a ton of kitchen room.

   So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine.

   I am giving this coffee maker 3 stars, but this is generous. The pot shows the ability to make five 5 ounce cups of coffee, but this is optimistic. It has a small basket to hold the coffee grounds. The documentation suggests a max of 4.5 tablespoons of ground coffee. If I am making four 6 ounce cups of coffee (6 ounces being the usual standard), then I need 6 tablespoons of ground coffee to get a proper cup of coffee. I usually make two 6 ounce cups of coffee, so that is no problem to me unless I have guests. The real problem for me was that the coffee pot does not heat the water hot enough. The standard for drip coffee is 200 degrees plus or minus 2 or so degrees. When I was testing this coffeemaker, the coffee tasted a bit washed out. The coffee in the pot measured in the 160’s, and the coffee grounds measured 170. This is too low, and so in my coffee maker the coffee is under extracted. I did this testing several times. The cure is to preheat the coffee water before using it. The easiest way is to run the water through the coffee maker without the grounds, and then to use that water for the actual making of the coffee. So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine. The coffee in the pot measures in the 170’s, and the coffee grounds measure 190 and higher.After my testing and simple cure I did not intend to send the coffee maker back (I paid $13 on an Amazon special). Now I have no idea if other people are seeing the same temperature problem. If the coffee tastes weak compared to what you were used to, then water temperature could be one problem.I had bought this coffee maker as a backup to an almost 40 year old Rowenta coffee maker (made in Germany) that does brew a true five 6 ounce cups of coffee. The Rowenta brews at the proper temperature, and it is a simple on/off coffee maker which works the same way as this one does. If the switch is on, it brews the coffee and the heating plate is on.The heating plate only turns off when the switch is off. The Rowenta basket takes the no. 2 conical filters (100 for 99 cents at Trader Joe’s), and the basket is large enough to accommodate making properly five 6 ounce cups of coffee. I do not think there are any automatic coffee makers using conical filters now.So the reason I left this at three stars is that I can easily work around the problem I had, and $13 is a low price.

    Good buy

    I had my doubts, but this is a coffee maker I like. It is easy to clean, keeps coffee fairly hot, by that I mean it is perfect temp for me. I read comments that coffee is not hot enough.Yes it is.Who wants to drink red hot lava temp coffee? My suggestion is to pour it into a thermos as soon as it brews.I like that the fill line for water is facing towards you. Plus the coffee pot shows the lines for cup/water. ratio. Pay attention to that. It is spot on. The water to cup ratio is a tad bit different. First pot I have had that shows two lines.It comes with one of those reusable filter baskets, which are not my thing. I use paper filters. This holder keeps them snug. First time buying a coffee pot by Amazon. I had a electric kettle I bought 3 years ago. I had to toss it last week as it had rust forming. But still, a longer time than I thought it would last.Depending on how long this coffee maker lasts, I will buy again.

    I love this coffeemaker. It is really easy to use. It comes with a washable, reusable filter. This saves me from having to use paper filters, which saves me time and money. The handle is easy to grip on the glass cup and on the container that holds the filter. When I clean the filter container, I can easily grip it because it has a place for your thumb to hold on while washing. Also, the removable filter is solid plastic at the bottom so nothing drips out when you pull it out of the machine to wash it. The coffeemaker is easy to clean and take care of. There is one simple button to make the coffee which switches on and off, and lights up when in use. This is the best coffeemaker I’ve used and it’s affordable for my needs. It’s also small enough to fit into a tight space when you don’t have a ton of kitchen room.

    So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine.

    I am giving this coffee maker 3 stars, but this is generous. The pot shows the ability to make five 5 ounce cups of coffee, but this is optimistic. It has a small basket to hold the coffee grounds. The documentation suggests a max of 4.5 tablespoons of ground coffee. If I am making four 6 ounce cups of coffee (6 ounces being the usual standard), then I need 6 tablespoons of ground coffee to get a proper cup of coffee. I usually make two 6 ounce cups of coffee, so that is no problem to me unless I have guests. The real problem for me was that the coffee pot does not heat the water hot enough. The standard for drip coffee is 200 degrees plus or minus 2 or so degrees. When I was testing this coffeemaker, the coffee tasted a bit washed out. The coffee in the pot measured in the 160’s, and the coffee grounds measured 170. This is too low, and so in my coffee maker the coffee is under extracted. I did this testing several times. The cure is to preheat the coffee water before using it. The easiest way is to run the water through the coffee maker without the grounds, and then to use that water for the actual making of the coffee. So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine. The coffee in the pot measures in the 170’s, and the coffee grounds measure 190 and higher.After my testing and simple cure I did not intend to send the coffee maker back (I paid $13 on an Amazon special). Now I have no idea if other people are seeing the same temperature problem. If the coffee tastes weak compared to what you were used to, then water temperature could be one problem.I had bought this coffee maker as a backup to an almost 40 year old Rowenta coffee maker (made in Germany) that does brew a true five 6 ounce cups of coffee. The Rowenta brews at the proper temperature, and it is a simple on/off coffee maker which works the same way as this one does. If the switch is on, it brews the coffee and the heating plate is on.The heating plate only turns off when the switch is off. The Rowenta basket takes the no. 2 conical filters (100 for 99 cents at Trader Joe’s), and the basket is large enough to accommodate making properly five 6 ounce cups of coffee. I do not think there are any automatic coffee makers using conical filters now.So the reason I left this at three stars is that I can easily work around the problem I had, and $13 is a low price.

    Good buy

    I had my doubts, but this is a coffee maker I like. It is easy to clean, keeps coffee fairly hot, by that I mean it is perfect temp for me. I read comments that coffee is not hot enough.Yes it is.Who wants to drink red hot lava temp coffee? My suggestion is to pour it into a thermos as soon as it brews.I like that the fill line for water is facing towards you. Plus the coffee pot shows the lines for cup/water. ratio. Pay attention to that. It is spot on. The water to cup ratio is a tad bit different. First pot I have had that shows two lines.It comes with one of those reusable filter baskets, which are not my thing. I use paper filters. This holder keeps them snug. First time buying a coffee pot by Amazon. I had a electric kettle I bought 3 years ago. I had to toss it last week as it had rust forming. But still, a longer time than I thought it would last.Depending on how long this coffee maker lasts, I will buy again.

    Excellent small coffee maker: easy to use and clean

    This is an excellent small coffee maker that is easy to use and easy to clean. In one picture, note how small this coffee maker (on the right) is compared to another fairly small (“10 cup”) coffee maker (on the left). The back edge of both coffee makers are even with each other; i.e., the front-to-back dimension of this (Amazon Basics) coffee maker is small: only 8 inches. The width is 7-1/2 inches, not counting room for the carafe handle. Height is 10-1/2 inches. A total of 17-1/2 inches clearance, measured from the countertop, is needed to open the lid; that’s almost the front-to-back dimension plus the height with the lid closed, because the lid is the entire top surface of the coffee maker. The other picture shows the re-usable plastic filter, the filter basket, and the carafe, all of which are easy to remove and clean. The filter and filter basket geometry prevent small coffee granules from getting into the carafe. Reviews for other coffee makers warned about the water-fill reservoir being on the left, and therefore awkward for a right-handed person. This coffee maker can be filled from either side, because the opening for the reservoir is across the entire back, when the lid is open. Therefore, this is fine for me as a right-handed person and should be equally fine for a left-handed person. Time to brew takes about six to seven minutes. The feature that allows you to take a cup during brewing works. When doing so, the lid may pop up, but then it’s just a matter of pressing the lid down again. I read a one-star review where the user states, “Now … the coffee never flows into the pot.” If this happens to you, try firmly pressing down the lid again to snap the lid into place. Note on “cups”: like all coffee makers in my experience, “cup” is the traditional size of a “cup of coffee,” which is about 5 ounces. This is different from an “eight-ounce cup.” Therefore, 24 ounces, which you might think of as three cups (or as two cups of coffee if you have a large coffee mug) almost fills this coffee maker, and is 5 “cups” in all coffee makers in my experience. Therefore, this “5-cup” coffee maker is the perfect size for me for “two large cups” of coffee in the morning. As a one-star review states, “When your pour water into the machine at the level of 4, the amount you get when the coffee that pours out is at the lowest mark of a 2”; i.e., about 4×5 ounces poured in will produce about two 8- or 9- ounce cups of coffee. I read a one-star review that states, “the coffee grinds get thru.” The plastic filter is much thinner than my previous coffee maker’s gold-plated filter. Be gentle with the filter and just rinse it. I read a one-star review that states, “It’s impossible to obtain the strength of coffee that I want.” Don’t overfill the filter. For strong coffee, try grinding the coffee beans finer, or if you buy ground coffee, ask to have the beans ground finer. I grind my own coffee beans, but I’ve noticed that Starbucks always ask customers who request grinding how fine to grind. I read a one-star review where cold water was poured into the coffee maker while the coffee maker was hot. Don’t do this. This damaged my previous coffee maker and will likely destroy this one. If you want more than 5 cups of coffee, then I recommend pouring more water in during brewing, or waiting for the coffee maker to cool, or perhaps pouring in hot water. I have used this coffee maker for only a couple of days, so I can’t comment on its reliability.

    Alexa, turn on the coffee

    The Coffeemaker itself: This is a simple coffeemaker with a physical on and off switch. It brews nicely and comes with a reusable filter. I prefer to use it with a paper filer as well because I find the reusable filter alone leaves the coffee a bit cloudy…which is true of any reusable metal filter. It brews the perfect amount for me as the only coffee drinker in the house. I get one mug before I leave for work and then have enough to fill up my travel coffee cup.Turning it into a “Smart Coffee Maker”: Since it has a physical on and off switch, you can leave it on and use a smart plug to control when it is off and on. I purchased this pack of smart plugs when they were on sale, and one of these works perfectly with this coffee machine.

I can even see from work if I accidentally left it on with my phone and turn it off I need to. The simplicity of this machine and the physical switch make it possible to elevate it into a smart machine with the right setup.I prefer this method over buying a more expensive coffee maker with a timer because:1. I am starting to use Alexa for everything2. It accommodates various waking times (I simply hit the button or tell Alexa to turn on the coffee when I am upstairs getting dressed whether it be at 5:30 am or 8:30 am depending on the day)3. You don’t have to program timer or constantly set a clock on the machine4. Once it’s set up, it is super easy to useI recommend this coffeemaker and this setup for anyone who wants to have coffee ready in the morning, or someone like me who doesn’t need the normal 12 cups of coffee.

    Perfect for solo drinkers

    This coffee maker is cheap, fast, and easy. It’s the ideal coffee maker for someone who drinks two cups in the morning or for a couple that drinks one cup each. Do not be mislead by the 5 cup capacity- you will not be able to entertain guests with this coffee maker. With that being said, it has otherwise met all of my expectations. The included reusable filter is a nice addition, and the warmer keeps the coffee at the perfect temperature all morning.I took off one star for two reasons: recently, something electric blew when I turned it on in the morning, and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve been using it daily for over six months, so I’m not too upset about it. I think for the amount I paid for it, six months is a decent window of use before buying another. The other reason is that there is no timer, so the heating element will stay on forever if you don’t switch it off before leaving the house. You can’t expect high tech from a $20 coffee maker, but it seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

For just over 15$, free to your door shipping, a permanent metal filter (awesome), and a 1 year warranty this is a solid buy for those, like myself, who do not need a massive 14 cup carafe or any of the other fancy bells & whistles of the more expensive models. I compared & chose this one over similarly sized/priced models from Mr. Coffee and Black+Decker.It is basic, with a small footprint (great for small apartments or college dorm rooms), and simple to use. Perfect. I like the minimal black on black branding. 25 oz. size is great for one person. It is mini, personal size if you will. Now if you have a larger household that all drink coffee this is going to be too small. Rated power: 650W. Weight: 2.7 lbs.     Excellent Coffee Brewer

    I am going to enjoy this coffee brewer so much because it makes excellent coffee with 26 oz of water and 1/2 heaping cup of ground coffee. I fill the water tank and coffee filter basket at night, then turn on whenever I wake up in the AM. Better than having a programmed arrangement wake me up.The removable filter seems small, but it can handle the big 1/2 cup of grounds.The coffee tastes rich and smooth. I use 1/4 cup dark roast Community Coffee and 1/4 cup Lucy Joe Sumatra plus 1 tsp cocoa in the bottom of mug. The cocoa adds to the smoothness.The water tank markings face front so the pot doesn’t have to be moved sideways to fill.The stay hot feature works, isn’t important for me because I reheat my two mugs of coffee in the microwave several times before finishing.Cleaning directions are nice and clear.I just returned another brand of coffee maker with a thermal pot. The thermal carafe keeps you from seeing the rich brew and how much is left. In a glass carafe there is this extra pleasure.The lid snaps down to hold the removable filter and basket in just the right position.

    BASIC & SMALL coffee maker that works

    This was a rushed purchase for me as my Mr. Coffee maker stopped working after a year. And to avoid going into convulsions I ordered this coffee maker without paying too much attention to the details, although I read some reviews which are generally positive. I have only had it for three days but have used it several times and four things of note 1) this baby is SMALL… my fault for not paying attention to the details but did not realize it would look like a miniature doll house addition (previous coffee maker was 10 cups so keep that in mind) 2) you need to make sure you align coffee holder/filter so it fits properly before brewing to avoid what happened to us which is brewed coffee all over the counter and floor – there is not a noticeable difference in placement so you might think it is aligned when it is not 3) includes a filter so no need to buy paper filters but it does not securely attach so don’t take out entire holder and shake in trash can because filter will also go into trash can and 4) it works – yup, the sucker actually brews coffee no different than my $60 piece of junk that broke in a year. I do not have high hopes that this will last the year but at $14.99 I can live with that.CONS: see above but main thing for me is size as it is small. I only drink cold coffee so I am used to a larger coffee maker, at least 10 cups… which I store in the refrigerator. I also have a Keurig which brews one cup at a time and like the keurig I have to brew several times with this baby. But again $14.99! Was going to return but that price keeps flashing before my eyes so will keep it.

    Excellent Coffee Brewer

    I am going to enjoy this coffee brewer so much because it makes excellent coffee with 26 oz of water and 1/2 heaping cup of ground coffee. I fill the water tank and coffee filter basket at night, then turn on whenever I wake up in the AM. Better than having a programmed arrangement wake me up.The removable filter seems small, but it can handle the big 1/2 cup of grounds.The coffee tastes rich and smooth. I use 1/4 cup dark roast Community Coffee and 1/4 cup Lucy Joe Sumatra plus 1 tsp cocoa in the bottom of mug. The cocoa adds to the smoothness.The water tank markings face front so the pot doesn’t have to be moved sideways to fill.The stay hot feature works, isn’t important for me because I reheat my two mugs of coffee in the microwave several times before finishing.Cleaning directions are nice and clear.I just returned another brand of coffee maker with a thermal pot. The thermal carafe keeps you from seeing the rich brew and how much is left. In a glass carafe there is this extra pleasure.The lid snaps down to hold the removable filter and basket in just the right position.

    BASIC & SMALL coffee maker that works

    This was a rushed purchase for me as my Mr. Coffee maker stopped working after a year. And to avoid going into convulsions I ordered this coffee maker without paying too much attention to the details, although I read some reviews which are generally positive. I have only had it for three days but have used it several times and four things of note 1) this baby is SMALL… my fault for not paying attention to the details but did not realize it would look like a miniature doll house addition (previous coffee maker was 10 cups so keep that in mind) 2) you need to make sure you align coffee holder/filter so it fits properly before brewing to avoid what happened to us which is brewed coffee all over the counter and floor – there is not a noticeable difference in placement so you might think it is aligned when it is not 3) includes a filter so no need to buy paper filters but it does not securely attach so don’t take out entire holder and shake in trash can because filter will also go into trash can and 4) it works – yup, the sucker actually brews coffee no different than my $60 piece of junk that broke in a year. I do not have high hopes that this will last the year but at $14.99 I can live with that.CONS: see above but main thing for me is size as it is small. I only drink cold coffee so I am used to a larger coffee maker, at least 10 cups… which I store in the refrigerator. I also have a Keurig which brews one cup at a time and like the keurig I have to brew several times with this baby. But again $14.99! Was going to return but that price keeps flashing before my eyes so will keep it.

    Best coffeemaker, easy to use and clean

    I love this coffeemaker. It is really easy to use. It comes with a washable, reusable filter. This saves me from having to use paper filters, which saves me time and money. The handle is easy to grip on the glass cup and on the container that holds the filter. When I clean the filter container, I can easily grip it because it has a place for your thumb to hold on while washing. Also, the removable filter is solid plastic at the bottom so nothing drips out when you pull it out of the machine to wash it. The coffeemaker is easy to clean and take care of. There is one simple button to make the coffee which switches on and off, and lights up when in use. This is the best coffeemaker I’ve used and it’s affordable for my needs. It’s also small enough to fit into a tight space when you don’t have a ton of kitchen room.

    So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine.

    I am giving this coffee maker 3 stars, but this is generous. The pot shows the ability to make five 5 ounce cups of coffee, but this is optimistic. It has a small basket to hold the coffee grounds. The documentation suggests a max of 4.5 tablespoons of ground coffee. If I am making four 6 ounce cups of coffee (6 ounces being the usual standard), then I need 6 tablespoons of ground coffee to get a proper cup of coffee. I usually make two 6 ounce cups of coffee, so that is no problem to me unless I have guests. The real problem for me was that the coffee pot does not heat the water hot enough. The standard for drip coffee is 200 degrees plus or minus 2 or so degrees. When I was testing this coffeemaker, the coffee tasted a bit washed out. The coffee in the pot measured in the 160’s, and the coffee grounds measured 170. This is too low, and so in my coffee maker the coffee is under extracted. I did this testing several times. The cure is to preheat the coffee water before using it. The easiest way is to run the water through the coffee maker without the grounds, and then to use that water for the actual making of the coffee. So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine. The coffee in the pot measures in the 170’s, and the coffee grounds measure 190 and higher.After my testing and simple cure I did not intend to send the coffee maker back (I paid $13 on an Amazon special). Now I have no idea if other people are seeing the same temperature problem. If the coffee tastes weak compared to what you were used to, then water temperature could be one problem.I had bought this coffee maker as a backup to an almost 40 year old Rowenta coffee maker (made in Germany) that does brew a true five 6 ounce cups of coffee. The Rowenta brews at the proper temperature, and it is a simple on/off coffee maker which works the same way as this one does. If the switch is on, it brews the coffee and the heating plate is on.The heating plate only turns off when the switch is off. The Rowenta basket takes the no. 2 conical filters (100 for 99 cents at Trader Joe’s), and the basket is large enough to accommodate making properly five 6 ounce cups of coffee. I do not think there are any automatic coffee makers using conical filters now.So the reason I left this at three stars is that I can easily work around the problem I had, and $13 is a low price.

    I had my doubts, but this is a coffee maker I like. It is easy to clean, keeps coffee fairly hot, by that I mean it is perfect temp for me. I read comments that coffee is not hot enough.Yes it is.Who wants to drink red hot lava temp coffee? My suggestion is to pour it into a thermos as soon as it brews.I like that the fill line for water is facing towards you. Plus the coffee pot shows the lines for cup/water. ratio. Pay attention to that. It is spot on. The water to cup ratio is a tad bit different. First pot I have had that shows two lines.It comes with one of those reusable filter baskets, which are not my thing. I use paper filters. This holder keeps them snug. First time buying a coffee pot by Amazon. I had a electric kettle I bought 3 years ago. I had to toss it last week as it had rust forming. But still, a longer time than I thought it would last.Depending on how long this coffee maker lasts, I will buy again.

    Excellent small coffee maker: easy to use and clean

    This is an excellent small coffee maker that is easy to use and easy to clean. In one picture, note how small this coffee maker (on the right) is compared to another fairly small (“10 cup”) coffee maker (on the left). The back edge of both coffee makers are even with each other; i.e., the front-to-back dimension of this (Amazon Basics) coffee maker is small: only 8 inches. The width is 7-1/2 inches, not counting room for the carafe handle. Height is 10-1/2 inches. A total of 17-1/2 inches clearance, measured from the countertop, is needed to open the lid; that’s almost the front-to-back dimension plus the height with the lid closed, because the lid is the entire top surface of the coffee maker. The other picture shows the re-usable plastic filter, the filter basket, and the carafe, all of which are easy to remove and clean. The filter and filter basket geometry prevent small coffee granules from getting into the carafe. Reviews for other coffee makers warned about the water-fill reservoir being on the left, and therefore awkward for a right-handed person. This coffee maker can be filled from either side, because the opening for the reservoir is across the entire back, when the lid is open. Therefore, this is fine for me as a right-handed person and should be equally fine for a left-handed person. Time to brew takes about six to seven minutes. The feature that allows you to take a cup during brewing works. When doing so, the lid may pop up, but then it’s just a matter of pressing the lid down again. I read a one-star review where the user states, “Now … the coffee never flows into the pot.” If this happens to you, try firmly pressing down the lid again to snap the lid into place. Note on “cups”: like all coffee makers in my experience, “cup” is the traditional size of a “cup of coffee,” which is about 5 ounces. This is different from an “eight-ounce cup.” Therefore, 24 ounces, which you might think of as three cups (or as two cups of coffee if you have a large coffee mug) almost fills this coffee maker, and is 5 “cups” in all coffee makers in my experience. Therefore, this “5-cup” coffee maker is the perfect size for me for “two large cups” of coffee in the morning. As a one-star review states, “When your pour water into the machine at the level of 4, the amount you get when the coffee that pours out is at the lowest mark of a 2”; i.e., about 4×5 ounces poured in will produce about two 8- or 9- ounce cups of coffee. I read a one-star review that states, “the coffee grinds get thru.” The plastic filter is much thinner than my previous coffee maker’s gold-plated filter. Be gentle with the filter and just rinse it. I read a one-star review that states, “It’s impossible to obtain the strength of coffee that I want.” Don’t overfill the filter. For strong coffee, try grinding the coffee beans finer, or if you buy ground coffee, ask to have the beans ground finer. I grind my own coffee beans, but I’ve noticed that Starbucks always ask customers who request grinding how fine to grind. I read a one-star review where cold water was poured into the coffee maker while the coffee maker was hot. Don’t do this. This damaged my previous coffee maker and will likely destroy this one. If you want more than 5 cups of coffee, then I recommend pouring more water in during brewing, or waiting for the coffee maker to cool, or perhaps pouring in hot water. I have used this coffee maker for only a couple of days, so I can’t comment on its reliability.

    Alexa, turn on the coffee

    The Coffeemaker itself: This is a simple coffeemaker with a physical on and off switch. It brews nicely and comes with a reusable filter. I prefer to use it with a paper filer as well because I find the reusable filter alone leaves the coffee a bit cloudy…which is true of any reusable metal filter. It brews the perfect amount for me as the only coffee drinker in the house. I get one mug before I leave for work and then have enough to fill up my travel coffee cup.Turning it into a “Smart Coffee Maker”: Since it has a physical on and off switch, you can leave it on and use a smart plug to control when it is off and on. I purchased this pack of smart plugs when they were on sale, and one of these works perfectly with this coffee machine.

I can even see from work if I accidentally left it on with my phone and turn it off I need to. The simplicity of this machine and the physical switch make it possible to elevate it into a smart machine with the right setup.I prefer this method over buying a more expensive coffee maker with a timer because:1. I am starting to use Alexa for everything2. It accommodates various waking times (I simply hit the button or tell Alexa to turn on the coffee when I am upstairs getting dressed whether it be at 5:30 am or 8:30 am depending on the day)3. You don’t have to program timer or constantly set a clock on the machine4. Once it’s set up, it is super easy to useI recommend this coffeemaker and this setup for anyone who wants to have coffee ready in the morning, or someone like me who doesn’t need the normal 12 cups of coffee.

    Perfect for solo drinkers

    This coffee maker is cheap, fast, and easy. It’s the ideal coffee maker for someone who drinks two cups in the morning or for a couple that drinks one cup each. Do not be mislead by the 5 cup capacity- you will not be able to entertain guests with this coffee maker. With that being said, it has otherwise met all of my expectations. The included reusable filter is a nice addition, and the warmer keeps the coffee at the perfect temperature all morning.I took off one star for two reasons: recently, something electric blew when I turned it on in the morning, and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve been using it daily for over six months, so I’m not too upset about it. I think for the amount I paid for it, six months is a decent window of use before buying another. The other reason is that there is no timer, so the heating element will stay on forever if you don’t switch it off before leaving the house. You can’t expect high tech from a $20 coffee maker, but it seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

I get one mug before I leave for work and then have enough to fill up my travel coffee cup.Turning it into a “Smart Coffee Maker”: Since it has a physical on and off switch, you can leave it on and use a smart plug to control when it is off and on. I purchased this pack of smart plugs when they were on sale, and one of these works perfectly with this coffee machine.

    Using the app that controls the smart plug, I have it setup to work with Alexa as well. This means that I can simply say, “Alexa, turn the coffee on” and it will start brewing. Of course, in order for this to work, I need to set it up the night before by adding the coffee and water to the machine. I can also turn it off with my phone or with Alexa. I can even see from work if I accidentally left it on with my phone and turn it off I need to. The simplicity of this machine and the physical switch make it possible to elevate it into a smart machine with the right setup.I prefer this method over buying a more expensive coffee maker with a timer because:1. I am starting to use Alexa for everything2. It accommodates various waking times (I simply hit the button or tell Alexa to turn on the coffee when I am upstairs getting dressed whether it be at 5:30 am or 8:30 am depending on the day)3. You don’t have to program timer or constantly set a clock on the machine4. Once it’s set up, it is super easy to useI recommend this coffeemaker and this setup for anyone who wants to have coffee ready in the morning, or someone like me who doesn’t need the normal 12 cups of coffee.

    Perfect for solo drinkers

    This coffee maker is cheap, fast, and easy. It’s the ideal coffee maker for someone who drinks two cups in the morning or for a couple that drinks one cup each. Do not be mislead by the 5 cup capacity- you will not be able to entertain guests with this coffee maker. With that being said, it has otherwise met all of my expectations. The included reusable filter is a nice addition, and the warmer keeps the coffee at the perfect temperature all morning.I took off one star for two reasons: recently, something electric blew when I turned it on in the morning, and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve been using it daily for over six months, so I’m not too upset about it. I think for the amount I paid for it, six months is a decent window of use before buying another. The other reason is that there is no timer, so the heating element will stay on forever if you don’t switch it off before leaving the house. You can’t expect high tech from a $20 coffee maker, but it seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

    Avoid the 3-5$ coffee house expense and do it yourself for less! For just over 15$, free to your door shipping, a permanent metal filter (awesome), and a 1 year warranty this is a solid buy for those, like myself, who do not need a massive 14 cup carafe or any of the other fancy bells & whistles of the more expensive models. I compared & chose this one over similarly sized/priced models from Mr. Coffee and Black+Decker.It is basic, with a small footprint (great for small apartments or college dorm rooms), and simple to use. Perfect. I like the minimal black on black branding. 25 oz. size is great for one person. It is mini, personal size if you will. Now if you have a larger household that all drink coffee this is going to be too small. Rated power: 650W. Weight: 2.7 lbs. Comes packed in their ‘frustration free’ plain box packaging which is recyclable & a small printed owners manual (English/Spanish/French).     Excellent Coffee Brewer

    I am going to enjoy this coffee brewer so much because it makes excellent coffee with 26 oz of water and 1/2 heaping cup of ground coffee. I fill the water tank and coffee filter basket at night, then turn on whenever I wake up in the AM. Better than having a programmed arrangement wake me up.The removable filter seems small, but it can handle the big 1/2 cup of grounds.The coffee tastes rich and smooth. I use 1/4 cup dark roast Community Coffee and 1/4 cup Lucy Joe Sumatra plus 1 tsp cocoa in the bottom of mug. The cocoa adds to the smoothness.The water tank markings face front so the pot doesn’t have to be moved sideways to fill.The stay hot feature works, isn’t important for me because I reheat my two mugs of coffee in the microwave several times before finishing.Cleaning directions are nice and clear.I just returned another brand of coffee maker with a thermal pot. The thermal carafe keeps you from seeing the rich brew and how much is left. In a glass carafe there is this extra pleasure.The lid snaps down to hold the removable filter and basket in just the right position.

    BASIC & SMALL coffee maker that works

    This was a rushed purchase for me as my Mr. Coffee maker stopped working after a year. And to avoid going into convulsions I ordered this coffee maker without paying too much attention to the details, although I read some reviews which are generally positive. I have only had it for three days but have used it several times and four things of note 1) this baby is SMALL… my fault for not paying attention to the details but did not realize it would look like a miniature doll house addition (previous coffee maker was 10 cups so keep that in mind) 2) you need to make sure you align coffee holder/filter so it fits properly before brewing to avoid what happened to us which is brewed coffee all over the counter and floor – there is not a noticeable difference in placement so you might think it is aligned when it is not 3) includes a filter so no need to buy paper filters but it does not securely attach so don’t take out entire holder and shake in trash can because filter will also go into trash can and 4) it works – yup, the sucker actually brews coffee no different than my $60 piece of junk that broke in a year. I do not have high hopes that this will last the year but at $14.99 I can live with that.CONS: see above but main thing for me is size as it is small. I only drink cold coffee so I am used to a larger coffee maker, at least 10 cups… which I store in the refrigerator. I also have a Keurig which brews one cup at a time and like the keurig I have to brew several times with this baby. But again $14.99! Was going to return but that price keeps flashing before my eyes so will keep it.

    Best coffeemaker, easy to use and clean

    I love this coffeemaker. It is really easy to use. It comes with a washable, reusable filter. This saves me from having to use paper filters, which saves me time and money. The handle is easy to grip on the glass cup and on the container that holds the filter. When I clean the filter container, I can easily grip it because it has a place for your thumb to hold on while washing. Also, the removable filter is solid plastic at the bottom so nothing drips out when you pull it out of the machine to wash it. The coffeemaker is easy to clean and take care of. There is one simple button to make the coffee which switches on and off, and lights up when in use. This is the best coffeemaker I’ve used and it’s affordable for my needs. It’s also small enough to fit into a tight space when you don’t have a ton of kitchen room.

    So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine.

    I am giving this coffee maker 3 stars, but this is generous. The pot shows the ability to make five 5 ounce cups of coffee, but this is optimistic. It has a small basket to hold the coffee grounds. The documentation suggests a max of 4.5 tablespoons of ground coffee. If I am making four 6 ounce cups of coffee (6 ounces being the usual standard), then I need 6 tablespoons of ground coffee to get a proper cup of coffee. I usually make two 6 ounce cups of coffee, so that is no problem to me unless I have guests. The real problem for me was that the coffee pot does not heat the water hot enough. The standard for drip coffee is 200 degrees plus or minus 2 or so degrees. When I was testing this coffeemaker, the coffee tasted a bit washed out. The coffee in the pot measured in the 160’s, and the coffee grounds measured 170. This is too low, and so in my coffee maker the coffee is under extracted. I did this testing several times. The cure is to preheat the coffee water before using it. The easiest way is to run the water through the coffee maker without the grounds, and then to use that water for the actual making of the coffee. So there is an extra step which works and the coffee tastes fine. The coffee in the pot measures in the 170’s, and the coffee grounds measure 190 and higher.After my testing and simple cure I did not intend to send the coffee maker back (I paid $13 on an Amazon special). Now I have no idea if other people are seeing the same temperature problem. If the coffee tastes weak compared to what you were used to, then water temperature could be one problem.I had bought this coffee maker as a backup to an almost 40 year old Rowenta coffee maker (made in Germany) that does brew a true five 6 ounce cups of coffee. The Rowenta brews at the proper temperature, and it is a simple on/off coffee maker which works the same way as this one does. If the switch is on, it brews the coffee and the heating plate is on.The heating plate only turns off when the switch is off. The Rowenta basket takes the no. 2 conical filters (100 for 99 cents at Trader Joe’s), and the basket is large enough to accommodate making properly five 6 ounce cups of coffee. I do not think there are any automatic coffee makers using conical filters now.So the reason I left this at three stars is that I can easily work around the problem I had, and $13 is a low price.

    Good buy

    I had my doubts, but this is a coffee maker I like. It is easy to clean, keeps coffee fairly hot, by that I mean it is perfect temp for me. I read comments that coffee is not hot enough.Yes it is.Who wants to drink red hot lava temp coffee? My suggestion is to pour it into a thermos as soon as it brews.I like that the fill line for water is facing towards you. Plus the coffee pot shows the lines for cup/water. ratio. Pay attention to that. It is spot on. The water to cup ratio is a tad bit different. First pot I have had that shows two lines.It comes with one of those reusable filter baskets, which are not my thing. I use paper filters. This holder keeps them snug. First time buying a coffee pot by Amazon. I had a electric kettle I bought 3 years ago. I had to toss it last week as it had rust forming. But still, a longer time than I thought it would last.Depending on how long this coffee maker lasts, I will buy again.
